Stoptober on NewU🚭
In October, there is, in the Netherlands, a massive campaign to help people quit smoking. If you ever tried to quit smoking, you might have experienced how hard it can be. Research has shown that on average, it takes seven serious attempts before you quit smoking, A shockingly high number! However, if you want to quit smoking, you can do things to increase the chance of success!
Analyze your smoking habits and practice saying no🙅
Start with analyzing at what place, with whom, and at what time you smoke. Analyzing your habits and understanding your making behaviour will help you prepare for seductions in the future.
Practising to refuse a cigarette might feel a bit trivial. However, research has shown that you have a bigger chance of succeeding if you decide to say no before the event. For example, you might say something like; When I go outside for a lunch break, and Jane offers me a cigarette, I politely say no and mention that I stopped smoking.
Find a buddy🫂
